The Quadram Institute, an interdisciplinary research centre, is a collaboration between the Quadram Institute Bioscience, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the University of East Anglia, and the Biotechnology Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) on the Norwich Research Park in Norfolk, UK, with researchers, analysts, and clinicians from around the world. The Quadram Institute also has one of Europe's largest endoscopy units and a reputable clinical research facility.
Their common mission is to improve people's lives by conducting innovative scientific research in gut health, microbiology, and food science, with a shared vision to understand how food and microbes interact to promote health and prevent disease.
Quadram Institute Bioscience's wholly owned subsidiary is QIB Extra. Established in 2008 as IFR Extra, QIB Extra provides short and long-term high-quality strategic and applied research and consulting services, with IS09001 accreditation, to commercial companies around the world in food production and manufacturing, environmental, agri-food, and allied sectors, as well as supporting collaborative projects between industry and academia.
We can direct all the necessary resources, from state-of-the-art laboratories, facilities, and equipment to expertise and project support from highly qualified and experienced researchers, analysts, and consultants from both QIB Extra and the Quadram Institute Bioscience or partnering organisation both from the Norwich Research Park or partnering organisations from further afield, to the commercial market, to ensure the success of our client’s research needs.
In addition to our wide range of research consultancy and services, we can offer our clients short- or long-term hire of equipment and facilities at the Quadram Institute, product authentication services, pioneering and reputable Clostridium botulinum challenge testing, yeast identification and strain deposition through the National Collection of Yeast Cultures (NCYC), and front and back of packaged food labelling for food producers through Nutritional Information Solutions (NIS).
