Research groups within Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB) target some of the major challenges facing society related to the field of food and health, and QIB Extra enables scientists within QIB to undertake bespoke research work for commercial partners where their world-leading knowledge can be applied to meet the specific needs or challenges a business may have, facilitating access to knowledge and state of the art facilities/equipment available in QIB which may not otherwise be available.

The setup of a typical project with QIB Extra is provided below, however depending on the needs of your business and individual requests variations may occur;
- Initial contact is made with QIB Extra by email, website contact form or telephone.
- A member of the QIB Extra team will respond within 2 working days.
- Following the initial contact, further details of the project will be discussed so that QIB Extra can better understand your requirements. If required, a call is arranged with an identified scientific consultant.
- A confidentiality agreement (CA) or non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is set up, if necessary.
- A proposal will be prepared which includes deliverables, responsibilities, timelines and where appropriate any risks identified. Once the project is defined the proposal and an accompanied quote for the work based on the defined resources will be sent to you.
- Depending on further discussions the proposal and quote may then be revised and re-issued as required.
- If you would like to proceed a contract will be issued, and work can begin once this is signed by all parties.
- After the work has been completed a report will be issued. Interim reports are available should it be agreed at proposal stage.
