The Quadram Institute Bioscience is an interdisciplinary research centre at the forefront of a new era of food and health research. QIB’s mission is to deliver healthier lives through innovation in gut health, microbiology and food and its wider vision is to understand how food and microbes interact to promote health and prevent disease. Four interconnected research themes (listed below)  deliver a pipeline of world-class research with outcomes that may provide a step change to your business.

Stats and Analysis 

Statistical techniques are used to extract information from numerical data. Almost any kind of quantitative measurements can be usefully analysed using descriptive statistics or modelling techniques.
QIB Extra offers access to professional statisticians, who will aim to give understandable answers to your data analysis questions or problems or help you design experiments. Typical services we can provide include:
  • Descriptive statistical analysis.
  • Planning and conducting experiments and interpreting statistical analyses.
  • Help with surveys – design and analysis of questionnaires.
  • Sample size and power calculations.
  • Advanced statistical modelling – including data mining techniques.

The setup of a typical project with QIB Extra is provided below, however depending on the needs of your business and individual requests variations may occur;
  1. Initial contact is made with QIB Extra by email, website contact form or telephone.
  2. A member of the QIB Extra team will respond within 2 working days.
  3. Following the initial contact, further details of the project will be discussed so that QIB Extra can better understand your requirements. If required, a call is arranged with an identified scientific consultant.  
  4. A confidentiality agreement (CA) or non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is set up, if necessary.
  5. A proposal will be prepared which includes deliverables, responsibilities, timelines and where appropriate any risks identified. Once the project is defined the proposal and an accompanied quote for the work based on the defined resources will be sent to you.
  6. Depending on further discussions the proposal and quote may then be revised and re-issued as required.
  7. If you would like to proceed a contract will be issued, and work can begin once this is signed by all parties.
  8. After the work has been completed a report will be issued. Interim reports are available should it be agreed at proposal stage.
